Frequently Asked Questions
What is the pricing for Swim Lessons, Adult Learn-to-Swim Lessons, Kids Swim Lessons, and Private Swim Workouts? Are there any costs in addition to the prices of the swim lessons?
All of our pricing for our swim lessons and other services can be found HERE!
In addition to our lesson costs, we also have an Annual Registration Fee of $40 for insurance purposes
SwimBox maintains a strict 24-Hour Notification Cancellation and No-Show Policy to ensure all of our clients have the same opportunity to receive the highest quality of personal attention and care in their swim lessons. This fee is detailed in your Welcome Email you receive when creating an account through our booking platform, your Booking Confirmation Emails you receive each time you book a session, and our Reminder Emails you receive three days prior to each session booked. In the case of Late Cancels or No-Shows a $65 Fee will be charged.
What do I need to bring with me for my first lesson?
All you need is a swimsuit, goggles, a towel, and yourself! We have training tools and equipment that we sometimes utilize in our lessons, but you will never be asked to purchase anything to bring with you (unless you don’t have a swimsuit - we draw the line at not having one of those!)
Don’t have goggles & don’t know what to get? We suggest these to start with!
What’s the difference between Swim Lessons and Adult LTS (learn-to-swim) Lessons? How do I know which type of lesson to book?
All of our swim lessons come with video analysis and use of our underwater mirrors (these make for improved body awareness and easy self corrections) - but make sure you’re picking the right type of lesson when you book!
Our Swim Lessons are meant for anyone who already knows how to swim and is looking to work on their technique, speed, efficiency, power, and overall injury prevention so that you know you’re swimming as safely as possible. Trying to work on your swim technique so you can use lap swimming as your cardio? These lessons are for you too!
Our Adult LTS (learn-to-swim) Lessons are meant for everyone looking to learn to swim! This can range from someone looking to learn water safety skills before a vacation, getting ready for your first triathlon, looking to take up swimming as a cardio/workout routine, or maybe someone who learned to swim as a young kid and hasn’t been in the water in the past 6-10 years and wants to start learning from square one.
How many lessons will it take me to “learn to swim”?
This one is a bit more difficult, as this answer is different for everyone and varies from person to person. That being said, we always suggest starting off with a 5-Pack (five lessons) as you’ll learn a TON in your first 3-4 lessons, and then will have the opportunity to speak with your instructor around your 4th/5th lesson about your progress and make a plan moving forward to continue to work towards your goals.
How often should I book my lessons? Does it differ between Swim Lesson & Adult LTS Lessons?
Consistency is the absolute key to learning anything - especially when you’re older as you’ll be retraining your body movements and gaining a better understanding of your body awareness (both in and out of the water!).
We suggest booking ALTS lessons once a week for your first 4-5 lessons to ensure you properly build the foundation of your stroke and really cement your new body movements (not to mention get more comfortable in the water!). After that foundation has been built, booking ALTS lessons every week to every other week will still be beneficial, however any more time in between your lessons has the potential to negatively impact your progress, or even cause you to backslide between lessons; practicing your homework becomes difficult as well as you run the risk of practicing something incorrectly and not knowing it until you come back in!
When booking Swim Lessons for technique, efficiency, injury prevention, and stroke improvement we suggest booking these once a week or once every 10-14 days.
Should I book all of my lessons with the same instructor?
YES! We recommend sticking with the same instructor for all of your lessons - especially if you’re an adult learning how to swim! Staying with one instructor will ensure your learning process stays consistent, your homework in between lessons will have a set progression, and that you’ll really be able to create a solid bond with your instructor that allows you to maintain consistency in your learning and trust in yourself and your new abilities.
If you’re unable to book your lessons with the same instructor we’ll make sure each instructor you’re working with shares all videos/notes from your previous lessons to bring your next instructor up to speed about what you’ve been working on.
What is the Free Swim Analysis?
Our Free Swim Analysis is a completely FREE service that allows you to try out our pools and see our facilities. Free Swim Analyses are 15 minutes long and allow you to try out our pool*, see how our lessons are structured, and discuss your needs/goals with one of our instructors to get you set up with a plan to start working towards your goals during your lessons. We often suggest booking this back to back with your first lesson! By booking these services back to back you get a full 60 minutes in the pool for your first lesson, as well as get to take advantage of those FREE 15 minutes.
*PLEASE NOTE that if you’re learning to swim for the first time we won’t ask you to get in the water until your first lesson!
Should I book a Free Swim Analysis even if I know how to swim?
Yes! We want everyone to take advantage of the FREE 15 minutes!
Can I change and shower on site in case I have to go somewhere afterwards?
You sure can! We have showers/changing rooms at both of our facilities for you to use both before & after your lessons.
Are there lockers/locker rooms to keep my belongings in during my lessons?
We do not have lockers/a locker room, however each personal showerroom/changing room has benches/hooks to keep your bags/towels/personal items in during your lessons. If you’d like to keep your personal items with you during your lessons, we have benches/hooks in our pool rooms as well so you can keep your items in the same room you’re in during your lessons.
